Rondthaler House

Take a step back in time to Old Ocracoke at this simple, old island-style house. Rondthaler House is in the Ocracoke historic district and was built in approximately 1880. It is a standard island style home with weathered shingles, 1 ½ stories with a first-floor kitchen and dining room at the back. The front porch faces West to receive the prevailing southwest winds in the summertime, giving you views of a small marsh of cattails and grasses to a grove of cedar trees. Situated at the end of a sandy lane, secluded, and surrounded by thickets and marshes. This property has been in the owner’s family since 1936, when they first started coming to Ocracoke. In 1948, they moved here permanently to teach at the island’s school. Keeping with the simplicity of Old Ocracoke, this property been updated with basic amenities;however, there is no AC/heat, TVs, Wi-Fi, or washer/dryer. Linens and towels are not provided, please inquire about rental options. Parking is limited to 2 cars.
