Welcome to Rondthaler, a rustic 3-bedroom, 1-bath home that offers a glimpse into the charm of Old Ocracoke. Step back in time at this simple, old island-style house nestled in the heart of the Ocracoke historic district.

Dating back to approximately 1880, Rondthaler House exudes traditional island character with its weathered shingles and classic design. The front porch faces West, offering views of a small marsh and grove of cedar trees, providing a serene backdrop for relaxation.

Situated at the end of a sandy lane, this secluded retreat is surrounded by thickets and marshes, providing a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of modern life. 

With a rich history dating back to 1936 when it first came into the owner's family, Rondthaler has been a cherished part of Ocracoke for generations. In 1948, the family made Ocracoke their permanent home, teaching at the island's school and embracing the simplicity of island life.

A foot path will take you past a view of the Ocracoke Lighthouse to a sandy beach area in front of Hurricane House that you can access. There you can immerse yourself in the serenity of the Sound's shallow waters, perfect for wading and exploration.

While updated with basic amenities, including a kitchen and dining area on the first floor, please note that Rondthaler does not have AC/heat, TVs, Wi-Fi, or a washer/dryer. Linens and towels are not provided, but rental options are available upon inquiry. 

Parking is limited to 2 cars, ensuring a peaceful and authentic experience at this historic island retreat.
