This quaint home, adorned with weathered shingles, stands as a testament to the island's rich heritage, with its 1 ½ stories featuring a first-floor kitchen and dining area at the back. The front porch, facing West to catch the prevailing southwest winds, offers sweeping views of Pamlico Sound, beckoning you to its tranquil shores just steps away. This beachy escape is shared with Hurricane House's property sister, Rondthaler House.

Nestled at the end of a sandy lane, surrounded by lush thickets and marshes, Hurricane House provides a secluded retreat with 130 feet of waterfront access. From the porch, you can easily stroll to the water's edge and immerse yourself in the serenity of the Sound's shallow waters, perfect for wading and exploration.

Despite its tranquil seclusion, this Saturday turn-day property is conveniently located just a short 5-minute drive from essential amenities such as the fish house, grocery and hardware stores, restaurants, and shops.

The name Hurricane House pays homage to its storied past, with an earlier owner documenting the harrowing experiences of both the 1933 and 1944 hurricanes on a wall of the house. Purchased by the current owner in 1984 and meticulously rebuilt using salvaged materials after severe storm damage in 1985, Hurricane House stands as a resilient testament to the island's enduring spirit.

In keeping with the simplicity of Old Ocracoke, this historic abode offers only the essentials. Modern amenities such as AC/Heat, TVs, or Wi-Fi are NOT provided. Please note that linens and towels are not provided either, though rental options are available upon request.
